91-92 explorer tranny?

ok i just bought a explorer of my gurlfriends brother and it wont go into any forward grear you put it in reverse and it goes right in no put it in drive and you rev the engine up it will kick in somtime im not used to auto trannys so somone please help me if i get this one fixed i can have my old one for just off road gotta get this one running for the old lady before i can have my toy

you can try and do a fluid flush, but the odds are your trans do for a rebuild.

its had fluid flushed new filters every time and new seals put in

No forward gear, when the fluid level is ok, strongly suggests you have a burned up forward clutch. (assuming all your linkages are ok and you ARE in fact selecting a forward gear).

That's a tear down item... so you are talking rebuild.

yup i just talked to my friend last night thats a damn good mech. and he said im looking at about 1000 bucks easy cause wed have to drop it and rebuild but like i said i got a explorer sittin at my mom and dads along with others like the 83 ranger 87 tempo 95 berreta so ill just take the tranny outta my mudder for now.. another ? how hard is it gonna be to take my tranny out and put it in the new explorer. should i be aware of anything
