91/96 explorer 5.0

Ok here is what I have
91 explorer with 7 inches of lift and 33/14.50/15 tires
91 explorer v6 harness
99 explorer v8 with engine harness
96 explorer v8 computer and engine harness
85 aod rebuilt and adapter for transfer case

I have most of the wiring diagrams that I think I need ( I hope)
have all the colors listed out and what most of the wires go to for each harness.

what I want to know is
1) does the 96 5.0 explorer have the pats key system?
2) do I have to use the 96 5.0 transmission to use the 96 computer?
3) does anyone know if I have to use the complete dash wiring from the 96 or can I just get the obd section?

1.No 96 does not have the PATS key system
2.Use a manual trans computer
3.Not sure on the dash wiring

no they did not.
Your 96 computer is OBD II and setup to run the 4r70W trans.
You will need a different 5.0L PCM to run the 5 speed/AOD trans or possible computer modifications.

so I take it that the computer looks for a response from the transmission. I was hopeing that I could just leave that out of the harness I was gonna make. I gess maybe I will change my plans and go get stuff for eecIV if I can't figure anything else out. I just wanted to try and run the eecV since I had the eng. haness and computer.
