'91 EB Pre-wired for factory sub?

Hello,

I have not pulled any interior panels or traced wiring diagrams yet so if you tell me to RTFM I won't be offended.

I have a '91 EB with the so-called premium audio system. I does not have the subwoofer.

Does anyone know if the '91's came pre-wired for the amp and sub?

Lastly, if the '91 is pre-wired for the sub and you have a factory amp/sub to sell, please contact me via e-mail.

Not wanting to start a big thread let me close by saying that the truck is used for work so putting good equipment in it just won't happen. (I am putting all my good stuff in my boat)

Don't know about the EB but my XLT did not have a sub. However, it did have the factory amp that had to be bypassed behind the passenger side interior quarter panel. I was under the impression of no sub no amp, so when I installed a new HU ... no sound. I broke several of those plastic gray panel tabs removing the interior panel. Replaced those with black ones. Looks much better. My stock system was labeled as "premium."

Thanks for the reply Mark. I re-read my original post and see that I was not very clear. Let me add some more detail.

I have confirmed that I have the little factory amp for the door speakers.

What I am trying to find out is if I might be pre-wired to add the subwoofer amp and the little subwoofer in the cargo area. I believe those who have subs have two amps.


I figured that someone with an early model must have upgraded their system and had a set to sell.

I believe Mrsteve was wanting to sell his stock setup. Your other best bet is to go to EBAY and search for "Ford Explorer". Every once in a while, someone sells the whole setup, and it goes rather cheaply there too.
