Hopefully 91 Eddie Bauer
I am looking at a 91 Eddie Bauer Explorer, all the accesories work fine like the power windows locks, ect.......it has a newer tranny in it and shifts fine, but the motor has 155k miles on it, it runs fine and is clean, the underbody is also clean, i was wondering sence it has this amout of miles on it should i just leave it alone and look else where for my X or sence this runs nice and strong be ok with this amount of miles

thanks :D

if you are looking at that other one for sale on the board, its a great deal. our 91 eddie has 165k on it (granted it was rebuilt around 130) and the tranny has been replaced but it does run strong. as long as it runs good at 155, it has probably had all major repairs it might need (rarely do trannys last 155, unless its a manual and if the engine runs strong, it has either been rebuilt or well taken care of or both). again i say, sopunds lie a good deal.

BTW, i have a 91 eddie for sale too! but mine is more than that other one.

EDIT, yes the one i was recommending was VAIRKING's. if i had the moeny, i would buy it! the only reason we are selling our 91 is because my girlfriend (user: Genevieve) owes her dad 2g.

theres alot of people on here who have a lot more miles than that. you should be fine with it. but do expect some minor repairs and maintenance. if you dont mind me asking what the price of it. that might be the deciding factor.

Well, it really depends on how much they are asking for it and how much you are willing to spend.

oh and welome to this site!!!:)

the one i am looking at is in my town of Harrisonburg...VairKing my dad lives in GR.....they want $2000 for the one i am looking at....the guy said he replaced the tranny and it shifts really smooth...the only thing that was wrong with it was that the guy said it needd a MAP sesor(sp?) because when it first starts up cold u have to keep giving it gas or it will cut off but after the first 2 mins or so it will sart to idle sort of rough but when it warms up it will run like nothing is wrong, also the guy didnt say nething about a rebuilt motor so i take it, it hasnt been...approx how much does it take to have the motor rebuilt?

would the MAP sensor cause it do act like that and i only plan on keeping the X for a year or two....enough time to save up some money and buy a newer one

doenst sound like MAF to me, but i am no expert on that...if your dad lives in GR, buy Vair kings for 1200 and drive it home.

i would pitch ours for 2500 obo, but:
it need new 4x4 hubs (200 for manual hubs),
has a cracked winshield (no leaks, just annoying),
the ABS is inop (ABS on 1st gens blows anyways, i shut mine off in my 93)
and the A/c doent work (as to be expected from a 91).

truthfully, VAIRKINGS is a better deal.

i would buys his and drive it home but i am not going to visit my father this year because i have nothing to drive up there and this was suppost to be the first time i drive up there myself.....but about the other one what should i look for in the motor and about how much would it cost me to get it rebuilt?

if the engine runs strong and is quite i wouldnt worry about it if your only gonna have it for a year or so. this is just a guess but id say about a 150 bucks a cyclinder for a cheap rebuild
