Well I got the explore up and running great. Now the problem is I cannot figure out why it wont charge the battery. I put a new alt "not reman" a new Battery and have put two new relays Ones the fuel pump Unsure of the other so i replaced it two. I have also cleaned the Battery wires and cut them back past the corrosion and reinstalled. The light does not come on in the dash except when you turn the switch to crank it then it comes on then goes off like it should. I have been working on this thing for a year I finally got the thing to run great and put the new front clip on and I just cannot firgure out why its not chargeing. I have a muti meter and I have checked several items and cannot figure this out all help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks Rodney.

im thinking it could be the wire from Bat + to alt thats open some how check the fusible link inside it or bypass it somehow. or maybe the voltage regulator isnt recieving voltage and allowing the alternator to charge.

have you also checked for an key off battery drain?

could also be a defective battery. or a short in the system

I will be checking the bat+ to the alt. and with the key off there is no drain. I have had several people mention the fusible link but I have not located it yet I am just going to by pass the wire Bat+ to the battery if that works i will dissasemble the wiring harness and look for fusible link. Thanks for the Help. This is all I like and I will be good to go. Rodney

if its the stock cable it should be almost at the end where it connects to the relay. it has shrink tubing around it.

I found It and it was burnt out. Right at the starter relay. I just bypassed for now with the same gage wire and a 60 amp circuit breaker until i can get a replacement from the junkyard. Thanks for all the help I have been working on this thing for a year and now its finally ready to enjoy. Now if it was just 4 wheel drive I would happy. Maybe I will takle that later anyway thanks for the help Rodney.
