My 92 explorer won't shift out of first gear unless i floor it and let it get to like 4500 rpm's. is the transmission sealed? or can i add/check the fluid real easy? or does anyone have any other ideas?

transmission dip stick should be at the back of the engine. Mine's right next to the coil pack. It's real easy to check/add fluid.

In addition to checking the fluid, check the vacuum line that goes down to the transmission. It's acting like the transmission thinks you are at WOT all the time, which could easily be a disconnected vacuum line. If you're up to it, look into testing the vacuum modulator.
