do you have manual or auto hubs? With manual hubs you can use a screw driver and a hammer to loosen the nuts. May want to go over to www.therangerstation .com to see if they have some info that may help. And yes there are special sockets for removeing the nuts that hold the wheelbearings on at least for manual hubs. I havent messed with auto hubs enough to remember how they work off the top of my head.

The key is shown in the photo being removed with a magnet. This Large nut looks strong, but is only torqued down 1.25 -2 ft/lbs...Thats nothing... Anyway if you have a magnet use it, or try a small pick to try and drag it out. I have used both methods and either works.

The socket is only about $15, but the magnet and pick is the way to go! ;)

thank u guys for the info i'll try this by the way what size is that socket and where can i purchase it

The socket is a special deal made just for hub nuts, I bought one at Pep Boys for like $12, it lists the vehicles it fits on the package. I made a pick to get the key out. Just straighten part of a paper clip and put a 90 degree bend right at the end, slide in along the key and hook it out.

Also with ABS I believe you need to remove the ABS sensor on the rear (it is a very small bolt) of the rotor or it will not come off. I've busted mine off long ago so I don't have to worry about this on the trails but I can't remember if this was an issue with rotor removal.

The socket for auto hubs is 2-3/8". The ABS sensor does not have to be removed for rotor replacement.

You can also check with Autozone or other chain stores. They may have the socket you can rent for FREE.

Before you put the 2 3/8 " socket on the retaining nut, first remove the little key !! If you try to twist on the nut first, it is possible you will have a fight on your hands getting the key out.

The only place that I could find the socket was at Napa for $26. Then, a month later I got manual hubs.
