For something that sounds like a misfire, I'd be tempted to start with a cylinder balance test to see if it is a misfire isolated to a specific cylinder or not.

I would probably also do some basic diagnostics: pull codes to see if the computer sees anything, and check fuel pressure to see if the fuel system is operating as it should.

Firing order is 1 4 2 5 3 6.

On the coil pack, the right rear (when viewed from the front of the vehicle) is #4, middle right is #6, and closest right is #5. On the left rear is #3, middle left is #2, and closest left is #1.

On the engine, #1 is the left front, left middle is #2, left rear is #3, right front is #4, right middle is #5, and right rear is #6.

Double check that you have the wiring correct. If so, grab whatever codes there are,

can you draw a picture just so i know for sure and i have no check engine light

just did the order you said and it still runs like crap

i just dont get it it ran fine until i changed the fuel pressure regul;ator and the coil and i even put my old fpr in im lost here i have checked vaccum line nothing

Then it's not due to having the wrong firing order.

You should still check for codes as not all DTC's will illuminate the CEL. If you recently changed plugs, then it shouldn't be those causing the miss, but I have found that the 4.0 in the first gen doesn't like those fancy double platinum or platinum +4 plugs. OEM Motorcraft platinum are usually your best best, but NGK seems to do OK as well.

You replaced the ignition coil as well, but did you replace the plug wires at the same time? If not, you might want to check them out and make sure they're all OK. A visual inspection is usually sufficient, but if you want to make sure, check the resistance of the wires and make sure they're all relatively close to each other. Longer wires will have a higher resistance than shorter ones, but there shouldn't be a 5k or 6k ohm difference from one to another.

Other possibilities would be the crank position sensor or camshaft position sensor - either of those would cause a code to be stored in the PCM.

i got auto lite plat single tip i will see if there are any code cause i have no cel

i know 522 is cause i wire is not connected on the trans whaen i dropped it it got wrecked

DTC 176
Lack of heated oxygen sensor switches, indicates lean (bank #2).
DTC 186
Injector pulsewidth higher than expected or mass airflow sensor lower than expected.

You need to try and get the exact code as 176 & 186 are completely different.

DTC 452
Insufficient input from vehicle speed sensor to powertrain control module.

my eyes are not that great i fixed the neg side on the battery so it was reset since last code check but i will up load a video of the codes and if you would be kind enough to help me out

OK, here's what I see when I watch that:

The first DTC is 522, which repeats twice.
9 second delay.
1 flash.
4 second delay.
157
158
Then it repeats.
157
158

I watched the video several times to make sure I was counting the flashes correctly.

DTC 157
Mass air flow sensor circuit below minimum voltage.

DTC 158
Mass air flow sensor circuit above maximum voltage.

Disconnect the battery then remove the MAF sensor from the housing (you'll need a T20 tamper proof Torx bit) and inspect the wires. If either of them are broken, you'll hve to replace the unit. If the wires are both OK, spray it down with some MAF sensor cleaner. I know Napa sells it but Autozone / Advance / O'Reilly / etc. should also carry it. After you put the sensor back on, reconnect the battery and see if anything has changed.

ok i will try that later today thanks the other codes i got were cleared does that mean there ok now cause 176 for the o2 its was loose and i twisted it back on

It just means that the PCM hasn't seen the error condition enough times to set the code since you cleared the memory. It might take 3 or 5 times before the code is set again. If the error is fixed, then it shouldn't come back. You'll just have to wait and see. ;)

ok just got back from work im going to the junk yard to just get a new one hope it fixes it

is there a wrong way to put in or something i had to do when i did the fpr thats what i did when this all started

Obvious question......you did remember to hook the vacuum line up to the pressure regulator, right?
