I have a 93 xlt and i am about to go on a road trip tomorrow, and need quick answer if i should change my O2 sencer. I have changed my spark plugs and wires 5000 miles ago. I change oil and air filter on a regular basis. I am currently getting about 13-14 mpg in city ($32 to fill up $1.74 a gallon and about 250 miles on a tank) i have 104 x.. miles on engine with no major work. If i change my O2 should it help me get better gas mileage? any other cheap and easy things to do for better mpg? i thought i used to get better mileage but am not sure. Is there hope for my wallet, or is the explorer always gonna eat gas like my old V8 truck?

you can clean your MAF sensor when was the last time the o2's where changed? of over 60,000 miles i would change them both out other then that you can make sure that your tires are properly inflated carry the minimal weight that you can and don't use ethonol blend gas

Oxygen sensors don't last forever and gradually decrease in performance as they age. I would replace them if they have more than 50K on them and you're getting poor fuel economy.
