Pull the wire off of the OP sending unit and ground it with the key on. If the gauge reads high then replace the sending unit. If you still get no reading on the gauge then the sending unit is OK and you need to go further.

Thanks will do, if the unit checks good, is it time for a pump?

Nope. Not yet. If the sending unit checks good and the gauge curcuit shows good then it's time to check it with a mechanical gauge. If THAT verifies that you do indeed have low oil pressure then there are several other places to go before replacing the pump. One (reasonably) common problem is the OP sending unit stand-off from the block likes to plug up. A couple more things like that can happen but take it one thing at a time - easiest first.....:)

Thanks, will do, have a great day.

sending unit did check bad, when grounded it went to the high end of normal, looks like it's gonna be a bugger to change, thanks for the help. i really do apprieciate it.
