I have a 95 Ranger that I bought with no radio. I woul like to install a stock radio. Will a stock CD/radio from a 95-97 Ranger plug in and fit? Will an Explorer radio fit? I want to use the existing wiring harness (see picture). Any of you got one I could buy? Thanks

yep, i do believe it will fit. i could sell you a very nice radio out of my 98 mountaineer, ill have to go home and see if it will fit for sure but we both live in WA. it's really pretty nice for a stock one it's a casette/cd

That would be cool if it pluged right in. I don't want to get into a wiring nightmare. I just missed a deal on Ebay, $40 for for a CD/radio out of a Ranger..

okay i take that back, i checked and those connectors would not fit mine. i know you said you dont want a wiring nightmare but if i remember correctly the adaptor i had to get from walmart to adapt my aftermarket radio has those connectors on it and the ones that fit my radio, i think you can just connect the 2 on the adaptor and not have to worry about cutting any wires at all. once again i'd have to check on that.

Yes, please check on that. Thanks, Ron

Wiring harnesses differ among units. You need exactly what you're looking for--a 95-97 single CD or single tape unit. From a side profile, the unit should be taller towards the face place, then slant down, then even out towards the rear. eBay has one or two listed now, but they're going for about $80--a ripoff. You can get a replacement HU and mounting bracket for that much.

As for a conversion harness, I've never seen one. But, seeing as they make a harness to power my system via an aftermarket HU, anything is possible. :)

Good luck.

Adam, Thanks for the info. What about a 95-97 single CD or single tape unit out of a Explorer or Mountineer?

They should. The only issue I can think of is if the radio comes out of an Explorer that had the upgraded audio system (duals in the doors and the rear subwoofer), you may get a radio with the rear sub port--which will not be used.

Your best shot, if you stick with stock, is to have the seller send you a photograph of the rear of the radio. It's been a couple years since I traded in my 1996, and my memories of the radio in it are fading. :)
