I am trying to take off the rear wiper on my 95, 96, and 97 to paint them up (or maybe work out a deal to get them powder coated).

Problem is I can't figure out how to get them to release. The front's were easy, but the rear won't release. I have tried moving that "lever" forward and back but they are firm.

What's the trick?

Bump*** anyone, anyone, Ferris?

I had to tap on mine with a hammer while wiggling it back and forth. There must have been some corrosion holding it in place.

you mean the actual wiper (part that touches the windshield) or the whole arm? BTW, lemme know how it goes for you cuz I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Yeah,

I'm trying to remove the whole arm. I know it snaps over a stud. I just can't get it to realease. Hmmmmm

Bump... One more try. Has anyone doe this with a 95-97? There's little lever but it doesn't seem to let loose.

The cover that's over the arm where it attaches to the post pops up and there is a nut under there to remove. The arm just bolts to the post.

The arm is solid on 95-87 models. Nothing pops up like on 98+ models. Thanks for the help though.

I bought used 1997 wiper parts, including the motor and arm. I bought a new Ford wiper arm and it slipped right on just like the front wipers. Surely you just have corrosion making it stick. Try to spray some penetrant into the seam, and then work it off. Good luck,

well i know front wipers have a little clip you pull back and it just comes off...i took my rear one off befor and was going to paint it but lost interest becasue their was too much stuff to cut and i didnt have long enough rivets to reassemble it

I have a 1997 four door and I couldn't figure out how to take the rear wiper off to paint it. So I taped everything around it and painted it while on the truck.

I am curious if it's fixed on the truck or if it can be removed. I hoping for some trick to remove it.

Thanks for opening up this topic.

Kurt, your welcome..

So here's the answer...

After 10 years on the vehicle it needs some coaxing. I used a body panel puller (fancy bent screwdriver with forked tongue) to put around the left side underneath and pry while lifting from the right. Once the seal broke loose it came right off. It is too tight to pull straight off without damaging the interior. Prying them apart was the way to go.

Now they are off to powder coat, all 9 arms.
