Will a '95 4.0 MAS fit on a '91? If so will it work properly?

it might!!!

It actually should but you really dont know for sure till you try....

they both sue the same 19# injectors and similar computers, so it should work.

Why?

Isnt the 95 MAS the one thats all jacked up inside a plastic housing??? YUK!!!!

It should bolt on, but how well it would actually *work* is another matter. Keep in mind that at some point on the OHV engine, the head design was changed; so if the 95 heads are different than the 91 heads, it might affect the way the PCM was programmed; which could lead to problems if the MAF is calibrated for a 95 engine. I do know a 91 Explorer OHV was rated at 155 hp vs 160 hp on a 95 Explorer so that alone may indicate some sort of tuning difference in the computer.

Also remember that in 95 the intake tube is in a different place than on a 91 Explorer. This might (I don't know) lead to a different size intake tube, which could cause problems with bolting on the MAF tube.

You can try it, it just might work. Maybe someone else can enlighten further.

it is my uinderstanding that the signal from the MAS is the same based on the size ofthe injectors and thats it........so any 19# injector MAS should work as long as it plugs in.......however I have never tried, so......

It should work. It might not plug in, so you will probably need to rig up the wiring some.

I am asking because the '91 MAS is smaller than the '95, and I can pick up a '95 for $5. So I figured instead of spending $225 on a Pro-M, I could get improved performance for $5, but I don;t want to mess up my motor...

You won't mess up the engine at all. Just make sure that if the connector doesn't fit, to make the wiring correct and secure.

$5!! wow man I would buy it for that just to try it out!
If it doesn't work right then you're still only out $5
