so would the obd2 be a better setup?

By far, as would the 5.0L V8 engine and trans. Personally I'd stay away from the AWD models unless you need it.

ok im looking at a 96 eb same color as mine with 244k mine has about the same if you take into account that it was rolled back according to carfax

"rolled back" as in odometer? Isn't that illegal?

Regarding '95 vs '96, go with the '96. As others have said, having OBD2 and a V8 option is very nice. One other difference is interior color- Saddle Tan was replaced with Medium Prairie Tan in 1996.

I would also consider getting a 1997 (assuming you don't want a 1998-2001). It's basically the same as the 1996, although the V8 was updated that year with new cylinder heads and a slight boost in hp. Since you live in California, I would just get a 2WD model instead of an AWD model if you get a 5.0. That setup will be more reliable and you should see some fuel savings as well.

Good luck with the hunt, and be patient!

(EDIT- I can't read).

As the OP already bought the vehicle, whether the odometer was rolled back seems like a mute point. Who knows, maybe the cluster was bad, replaced with a working with one from a junk yard and the odometer was in fact rolled forward. At 21-22 years old I'm sure a lot of parts have been replaced. If it runs and drive okay, I guess it doesn't really make much difference.

CarFax is kinda a waste of money anyway, as it only reports repairs "reported to CarFax". I trust my eyes and ears more.
