ok..im prolly going to buy this truck. i will know more after i test drive it sat. its a '95 4x4 auto with 131,000 miles with a build date of 6/95. it has a sunroof,JBL sound system, cloth seats..

im hopfully going to be buying it to fix up and sell to make alittle cash. it needs a battery, tires, tune up,change of ALL fluids, hole in the seat fixed,rear-view mirror fixed, taillight, a very very good cleaning inside and out....otherwise its a very clean truck.

now the price is $900. it runs, drives, passed I/M..

only thing is..it may have tranny problems..we arent sure yet. if it needs one. i prolly wont get it. but it has never been wrecked..not even a fender bender. the body its amazing!!! very glossy and no real scratches.

so what do you think...good deal?

BTW it should sell here for about $4.5-5k

If an Explorer is suspected of tranny problems, I'd go ahead and expect them. :) Even with a junkyard tranny you could still easily come out under $3,000.

In addition to the tranny issue, I'd be concerned about the 'needs tuneup' comment. Make sure it doesn't have a dead cylinder. Also, make sure the 4x4 works. Good luck..

The body looks great, I would bet that its got a lot of undercarriage rust and possible some on the inside bottom of all the doors as well though. That seems to be a problem for Rust Belt Explorers, like mine and that one, being from Alaska.

Sounds like a good deal though, provided the above comments have been checked out.

rust is not a problem here ;) ..they don't use salt here. infact my 91 f-250 had ZERO rust on it. i looked this 95 over very well. not one bit of rust on it.(infact i have never seen a explorer from here with rust on it.)

no it runs good. but im sure it could use some plugs/wires(what i call a tune up)

i'll know more tomarrow

Well, Im already partial to 95 xlt's....and $900? If there aint no oatmeal in the antifreeze or copper colored sprinkles around the radiator cap, no rust!!! It would be the easiest $900 I ever parted with! In fact if you do buy it let me know if your gonna dispense with any stock parts......... I may buy them... the interior is identical to mine as well... I'll give you $10 for the ashtray lol!

well, i got the word..if the test drive(thats now pushed up untill monday) goes ok without any major problems. we will be buying it..im really excited. thinking of what i can do with all that money..hehe

That shouldn't be hard for you to do. :D Sounds like a steal for that much.

And as for what to spend the money on...well, a body lift and a set of 33s might be in your future (so you don't have another one of those "incidents" with your bull bar :D). Or maybe since you'll have so much money, you could get a Trailmaster or Superlift suspension lift. ;)

i was thinking of a 4" super lift ;) ...but im not going any bigger then 31s(i dont want to deal with gears and such and i dont like the look of wider tires)..so that might look funny. so i think im just going to get a 2" BL and spend the rest on paint/body work shaving stuff/custom paint to make it stand out more :D

Just sold my 95 XLT with 218,000 miles. Original engine and tranny. Overall no major problems since brand new, and I beat the piss out of it from day one. Go for it.

What do they used on the roads then?

they have been using this chemical that melts the snow/ice. they have been using it here for about the last 15-20 years. its non corrosive(sp?) and easy to get off of paint..not supposed to have any real bad effects(non that i have seen)..but our roads stay snow covered most of the time..its mostly just gravle they put down.

i mean even my dads 84 ranger only has 2 very small spots(about the side of a 1/2 doller) that its rusting. and it was around when they still used salt..i think they switched in the late 80s. thats why i have never seen a X fom here with rust.

BTW the test drive got pushed back to today..so i'll tell you what we find.

No, you can't :) How did the trans check out?

its going to need some kind of trans work. it wont shift into 3rd unless you let off the gas. and it does the same thing into 2nd if you floor it. but for that price i could get a junk yard tranny. anyway it runs really strong..even got a brand new set of $500 studded snow tires on wheels. and we got anotehr set of new summer tires. :D

im just really excited about it...hehe

Congrats, wish I could find deals like this!

sounds like the final drive clutches...

Man I wish they'd use that stuff in Wisconsin. My Ex is rusting on all the doors and in small patches in the underside of the body and other then really expensive metal fabbing, there's nothing I can do about it.
