NEW INFORMATION - After some investigation I have found the source of the vibration to be the donut shaped weights (about 5 inches dia) bolted to the back of the 44-05 Transfer case. They start vibrating big time at 2500 rpm which can be felt as described below. Does anyone know why I need these weights? Or, how to stop them from vibrating?
Thanks Again-Jerry
I just bought this Exp and it has a high speed vibration at over 2000 rpm which feels like a structural resonance. I can feel it in the floor and seat and is worse when the engine is working hard. It will do it with the vehicle in park or while being driven. I have tried with the serpentine belt removed and it still does it. I am suspicious it may have something to do with the crankshaft damper but really don't know. This X has an auto OD tranny, a control trac 4WD and a pushrod 4.0 L engine. Has anyone else had anything to do with something like this?
Thanks-Jerry
