96 Explorer 5.0 Parts in transmission pan!

I dropped my trans oil pan tonight to change the fluid and filter, and once i pulled it down, i looked inside and found a piece of plastic! It looks important, but i cant seem to find where it goes, and i cant find a parts breakdown anywhere.. I cant figure out how to add the image in my post, so its set as my profile picture lol.

Anybody have any thoughts? The truck was shifting fine with it like this, except for an occasional OD rumble going to to gear, and with 200k on the original fluid, it could use a change... I really hate spare parts, its usually never a good thing..

I was about to start on flushing my trans... glad I read this first... although I hope its not there (sign someone else changed the fluid)

Im so tempted to drop my pan and see if mines still in there LOL, but my fluid looks so clean, so ill wait til summer
