96 Explorer air conditioner

I have a 96 Explorer. The AC will blow cold for about 5 minutes then stopy cooling. I have replaced the sensors on both the high and low pressure sides, evacuated the system (twice) and re-charged the system, replaced the dash panel switch, the main fuse under the dash, even the dryer bottle. Everything but the compressor and I do not think that is the problem because, if I wire the compressor directly to the fuse box, it will freeze you out of the cab.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the thermostatic switch on the evaporator might be at fault. It cycles the compressor to maintain evaporator temperature.
