Well i have been following all the rough or wont idle posts , and let me say there is a lot of good advise on this website. I have a 96 exploer 4.0 and a 99 ranger xlt. On my explorer i have been fighting no idle and rough running with surging for about 2 weeks and changed vacuum tubing, new iac valve , new tps sensor and new plugs and egr valve, and still nothing helped. Yesterday
i was going to drop the catalytic converter to see if it was plugged and i decided to try your advice and spray around the intake manifold first, thank goodness i did !!! There behind the egr valve was the egr intake tube that joins the egr to the intake air plenum, and the rubber o ring that seals it was not seated correctly , so i took it off and warmed it in hot water and put it back on with a little oil and it slid all the way in and sealed good, that fixed all the idle and surging issues. !!! Thank u all so much for this site and all your input . Glad i joined
