i have seen a lot of threads saying how the front driveshaft is not able to be rebuilt on the end near the transfer case. those stock u-joints are glued in from the factory, so you got to heat them up nice and hot and pound them out. but napa #534G u-joint has the c-clips on the inside of the cap and fit nicely. then you just use the regular one they give you for the axle end.

I think the driveshafts that are being mentioned are the type with the CV joint with a bell type housing and attached with six bolts at the transfer case. I know mine did not have a standard u joint on the transfer case side.

On a 95 or 96, yes, the u-joints are serviceable. Nobody argues that point. However, for a 97-01, the rear joint on the front driveshaft is a CV joint. It is not serviceable. It *can* be replaced, but it must be cut off the shaft, a new one welded on, and the assembly re-balanced.

yup... you lucky SOB 96'ers got the good serviceable driveshafts with real u-joints.
us with 97+ got the POS non-serviceable CV-jointed shafts.
