I have a 96 4.0, and the problem is my selector for defrost/mix/vent etc doesnt work right. It's stuck on defrost. I can turn it any which way, but it will ony do defrost or off. Any Suggestions?

I use the MAX A/C setting with success most of the time and controlling the temperature by changing the fan speed. When I set the temp anywhere above 75 I get so much heat I have to turn it OFF to survive if that helps.

you have a vacuum leak somewhere, guaranteed. WHen i mess with the vaccuum lines for my front axel, sometimes one will come loose where it attaches to whatever that ball thing is underneath the air filter, and it does the same thing. look around for a loose or broken vacuum line, heck maybe its even the same one i have issues with. If you cant find it, get a piece of hose and hold one end to your ear while probig around the engine compartment with the other while the engine is running (be careful!) and listen for a hissing sound, thats your leak. good luck!

**** man this i think this could be my problem i had to drop the wheel well to put a new power antenna motor in< and bang< all of my controls to my electronic ac?heater stopped working> gonna go pull that **** out now> that ball thing< wonder what it is anyways>>>

i think its a vacuum resivour (yea i know i cant spell.) thers a zillion vacuum lines runnign around though but i used it as an example cuz thats where i have my issues. It is mounted on the passenger fender though so it could very well be your issue as well

thanks for all the help guys, i'll poke around a bit tomorow and tell you how it goes
