quick question, my 96 has an issue with shifting, its mostly noticable under load like when i goto accelerate outta od and into a gear it basicly clunks or jumps or slips, however you want to call it. ive been reading and i see a possible issue may be the valve body gasket in the tranny is bad or the filter is gunked up. both are which are possible seeing as my exp is over 200k miles. my issues are which tranny does this come with and could those be realistic issues with it or could it be something worse like a bad clutch. its a 2wd automatic also. my knowledge of auto trans is kinda limited i only normally tinker with old stick shifts in muscle cars. and lastly while i got this thing taken apart does anyone know if they sell any kind of shift kit for these. im waiting to hit the lottery so i can put a supercharger on it one day haha. thanks for the help guys

Is it rumble strips/ torque converter shudder?

no clue what that is. like i said best way to describe it is that when its shifting under load it almost acts like something isnt going into gear right like it kinda sorta grinds but not really. i honestly cant think of anything to compare it to. i had transmissions slip before and its not doing that. it almost feels like a stagger like when your having a fuel problem but with a mechanical noise almost a clunk type sound. im gonna end up just taking it to aamco or some other trans shop to get it look at so someone who does this type of work regularly can be like oh its just this. like i said idont know the technical term for the noise and shutter its making so i guess this is useless w/o someone who knows actually driving it.

ok i looked up the def for tc shutter and yea that sounds close to what it is. the part that really got my attention is the temp based part as i have noticed that it really only does it once the trucks good and warm but ill dble check it tomarrow when im driving around to see if i can get it to do it when its cold and when its hot. is it possible that it could be something as simple as the fluids bad. as i had previously said i have no clue when the last time it was serviced. im just gonna hate to drop 100 bucks into it for fluid and filter and its still not the problem then have to dump it back out again to change out the tc.
