I recently noticed a very bad vibe at all engine speeds(except when coasting) not like a wheel out of balance vibe. you can feel it real bad through the steering wheel, especially when on the gas. The vibration seems to be coming from the front passenger side, I crawled underneath the passenger side front tire and did not notice anything unusual but I did not pop the hood and check engine mounts. I did pressure wash under my truck the night before I got the vibe. Is it possible I knocked off a weight off the driveshaft? and if so where would they be located and what do they look like. I still dont think that is the probable cause though. Any ideas?

Is the vibration speed related (does it change with the vehicle's speed), is it RPM related (change with engine revs) or is it constant (never changes)?

Ok, lets start here, last night I decided to start ruling things out. I checked my rear diff fluid, it was a little low, so I drained it all inspected the gears and put it all back together, no fix, went and got my wheels rebalanced, slightly better, it seems to be most noticable around 40 to 55 mph and really bad. steering wheel shakes and a lot of noise. I think it is in the steering. After I got my wheels rebalanced I started hearing noises from the left front tire, sort of like a squeel. when making left turns, got home took the wheel off and checked for play, some slight play. thinking ball joint or cv joint. the vibration only occurs when on the gas pedal, I let off the gas and all is normal. I am getting very frustrated. It seems to change with the vehicles rpm. I checked the driveshafts and no faults found. no play in u joints nothing, I am running out of options. Oh yeah before I forget I also checked the engine mounts. all good. sorry if I am rambling, just trying to give as much detail as possible. I looked at all boots and bushings and found a body bushing mount deteriorated and one of the front sway bar bushings, where it mounts to the left hand side of the front frame is slightly deteriorated(gap in between bar and bushing) any ideas? please let me know it is driving me insane.

do you have a carrier bearing??? but you wouldn't feel it in your steering... and i'm curious why you have a gap on one side of your sway bar...i have had motor and transmission mounts break before and they were hard to find and diagnose...since as you say when coasting its no vibration i would look real close to the motor mounts then the transmission mounts...

Check your drive shaft bolts, I had a horrible vibration and it turned out that my drive shaft bolts were coming loose. I had just done transmission work and I didn't tighten them up to spec... Check every drive shaft, half shaft, and maybe the front drive shaft for lose bolts.

Well finally figured it all out, first off, I found my left front wheel bearing was shot. I got a hub assembly at a junk yard for around 65 bucks, then I found my rear driveshaft u joint was blown out, after repairing both all is well, thanks for all our help guys you have been great.
