Hey guys,
Looking to replace my intake and am thinking the Volant is the one I will go for. I am somewhat stuck though that the web site lists parts only for the 98 SOHC and newer.
I've seen some others ask this question and am wondering if anybody has discovered the answer...which intake kit fits the 97 4.0L SOHC?
Thanks

MAC lists that 97-98models are the same, so I would assume the Volant kits would as well.

thanks for responses

Well because I seemed to be having some difficulty getting a hold of Volant and the guys at Mopac here in Calgary quoting me a good price and 2 day shipping for the K&N Fipk intake I decided to go that route.

should of waited for the volant, a much better setup.

The SOHC in 98 an 97 where the same. The differences between the newer versions are the breather tubes for the IAC and Crankcase breather. Also, 97 & 98 have the Air Temp Sensor out side of the MAF, its separate. In above years they are integrated with the MAF, so the volant only gives you two holes which you need three. Easy to solve by placing a t-fitting in one of the holes for the IAC an crankcase breather.

Newer years change the location for the pick up of the crankcase breather tube, I believe its re-routed to the upper intake.

Thanks frickea86 for clearing up my confusion.

What you said makes sense, I just didn't want to go out of pocket a couple hundred bucks only to find some slight deviation.
Even with the K&N FIPK kit I had to drill a hole for the air temp sensor. A bloody 11/16" hole. I had to hit 4 different hardware stores to find a bit that exact size, HA.

Completely understand seeing the price difference between the two.

Hope ya like it, any non-restrictive filter is going to be way better then the stock setup and you'll love the added sound it makes.

celly <----Calgarian with Volant. :D

Hi Celly

Actually, when I was picking up my K+N at Mopac I noticed on the way out a green X parked next to mine. I knew before even checking the plate it had to be yours. Only guessing but was that you looking at the Optima batteries.
Anyways, cheers.
