97 5.0 AWD hard shifting

Hope some one can help me. I just bought a 97 V8 AWD and it shifts very hard. I pulled the codes and got only a P0743 TCC electrical. Where do I need to go from here. The fluid looks and smells good.

Yeah-
check the torque converter clutch solenoid and wiring. If it isn't performing the "partial throttle torque converter unlock" it will shift like a race car-

Exactly how do I go about that jt?

O/D light is flashing also

You'll need to drop the pan and check the solenoid block, which is on the valve body.
The od light is because of the pending transmission code.

How about when it shifts kind of hard going from 1st to 2nd and great from 2-3-4.
i also go 97 monte awd

The TCC solenoid is the one attached to the same bolt as 2 other solenoids, all 3 face downwards. The other one is sideways , the EPC solenoid, dont touch that.
