I have seen the posts here on the many people with 2002 Explorers that have had to replace the 4wd module behind the glove box.
My question is, is this module the same in the 97's? Is it located in the same spot?
-Moved the switch this morning to "off road" and......nothing.
No dash light, no "clunk" no fuse problems, nothing.
I am going on the assumption that this is the problem. '97 w 165k. Runs fantastic, no problems (other that the power antenna gave up day before yesterday.) Have owned it for a year and never put it in 4wd before this morning. I am assuming the 4wd has almost never been switched, the vehicle shows no sign of ever having been off-road.
I'll do the basics, look under to make sure everything is in undamaged condition, remove and clean the plug etc. But I am hesitant to fiddle with it until I get it to work once, because I'm afraid it will get stuck. (Have read about that.)
