I have replaced the upper control arms/ball joints. I thought loose ball joints were causing my camber problem. Not so. I have the adjustable cam bolts and they are adjusted all the way. The bolts heads are hitting the brackets. No more adjustment. Something in this truck has changed over time and I need to get this fixed. It is destroying the tires. I suspect lowering the front to match the sagging rear has a little to do with this but now it is really bad. Fixes?

mine looks the same way and my tires were bald on the inside so i suspected the camber was off to because i replaced all the ball joints but i got an alignment done right after. so i bought new tires and before i put them on i took it to school and brought it up on the alignment rack to fix this problem but it was a toe problem! camber just fine, now it wears my tires evenly but still has a bad camber stance look to it

but that is just what i have noticed on my 97 explorer

She's been on the rack. Toe is set. Just wondering if there is an aftermarket cure

Set the front to the correct ride height, have it aligned.
Then fix the rear sag with replacement springs or Monroe helper shocks.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info guys. What a shame the thing drives and rides so much better sitting lower. Better than it did when it was new. Oh well.

Thanks fellas.

Who has done this ???
How hard is it ???
Generally how many turns does it take to fix it ???
Where do you guys measure and how do you get a accurate amount and spec ??

Moog has camber bolt kits. Worked good for me.

When I did it my adjustment bolts were obviously uneven. This was from peoplat the body shop messing with it. Anyway I started by jacking up the front to unload the springs. Then I used a ruler to even the adjusters
Let it back down drove around the block and eye balled it. From there I jacked it up and turn both adjusters the same amount. Drove around the block and repeat
Mostly just eyeballing.

You have to understand that my truck was so screwed up I would burn up a set of tires in about 8000 miles. But now it's normal wear

I'm sure someone has a more accurate way to do it at home unless you can get an alignment shop to do it. All of the around me refused to touch them

I was told mine was a toe problem on my 97 and that I have to buy some adjustable toe kit from this shop to install plus a alignment since I'm right at the limit.

I've never heard of an adjustable toe kit. thats weird because toe is adjusted by the tie rods. I have heard of and even used camber kits though

Yeah, toe kit sounds like bunk

Well good thing I didn't buy it. Probably gonna be buying a 97 Ex 5.0 next week and getting rid of my 97 EB Ex 4.0 so this one drives a lot smoother than mine and just gotta swap over all of my goodies over so they aren't gonna get the $260 outta me anymore for this kit and alignment.

Just curious. Any details on this so called "toe kit" that was needed by the shop? Brand, model number, etc.

They didn't tell me any of that stuff. Just the price it would run me for the kit and the alignment. So I was gonna do it this weekend but no point now if I'm selling the vehicle after I get my next Explorer.
