97 EX 302 4r70w reverse lockup question

Hi folks heres my problem got a 97 ex with a 302 4r70w tranny when i put it into reverse it locks up the tranny and goes nowhere i here it engage but goes nowhere i also don't have 1st gear and when i put it into drive its going forward very hard like its dragging an anchor behind it lol
Fluid is not burnt i'm looking for options before i start ripping into it this is the first time i've ever had problems with an ex tranny also this truck is all wheel drive and a customers of mine i searched on this site and no where did i see the problems that i'm having with it
Any and all help is greatly appreciated

torque converter is fuped now pulled pan and low and behold metal shavings up the cozoo lol :thumbdwn:
maybe time for junkyard tranny lol

SORRY TO HERE ABOUT THE TRANNY PROBS. you shld really look into a rebuild, i think you would be way better off. more than likely you are going to get a high mile trans from a junkyard with maybe a 90 day warranty if your lucky for around five hundred bucks. spend the extra and im sure you will be way happier. good luck though.
