Hello all, I bought a 97 explorer XLT with the overhead vavle v6 and the 5r55e. It has a code for the turbine shaft speed sensor. Since repairing that involves a trans removal (and the logical rebuild) I chose to buy another transmission. I found a recently rebuilt trans in another 97 explorer. Bought trans, transfer case attached and the computer in the truck. The trans looks exactly like mine and I stress this because I've read enough about exchanging the 97's with other years. I do not have the trans in yet, but tried the computer just to see if it made any difference. It did. The O/D light blinks steady (it did not before) and the trans seemed like it was not shifting through the gears at all. Almost like it was slushing between 2 and 3 with no low or high gears. At least I felt no noticable shift point between them. I put my original computer back in and it all went back to normal. That is to say, solid clunky shifts and no overdrive light. The check engine light came back on in a few miles of driving. The point of all this is this: if the transmissions were the same, would they have the same computer and behave the same through this computer change? The origonal computer has LEZ2 on it and the new one has MKK2 on it. I dind't find much when I searched these on the site. Probably not the ID that I needed to look for. I don't want to go through a trans install and find out then that it won't work. Thanks for any advice you can give me. Andy
