Trans swap questions

I have two explorers. A 97 sohc sport and a 97 ohv xlt. The trans is new in the sport but the body is shot. The xlt is throwing a code for turbine speed sensor and has all the symptoms of that code. Is there any chance that these two trannies will interchange? From what I've seen (and been told), it's a full tear down to change the turbine sensor. In my dreams, I could just swap these two. Any chance? Thanks a lot, Andy

i want to say yes, but not 100% sure. i know 98 and up you can change form SOHC to OHV amd vise versa, both up and down in years. you can even use a 97 trans in a 98 and newer. i also know if its a 97, a 97 trans must go back in (extra sensor in case).

Thanks for the reply! Does anyone out there know the answer? One of my mechanic freinds tells me that the wires get smashed on these sensors as well. Any experience with this? Thanks in advance, Andy
