98 4.0sohc swap what years

Hi to all this my first post hope someone can help.I have a 1998 evplorer with a 4.0 sohc that needs replaced. Was wondering what years would fit right in.It is a vin E.

I don't have that answer. But I can tell you that if you are going to swap the entire assembly, then about the only year I would count on fitting is a 1998 that was built around the same time yours was. Different years may have different sensor locations, emission packages, etc. However, the long block from several years should fit. You just need to be willing to swap over the intake, accessories and mounts, etc. But a good source of fitment information is a local salvage yard with a Hollander Exchange. They should be able to tell you what year long blocks you can use. I'll bet it's a lot.
