Hi all
I need some help - before i put a match to the car - as it is beginning to do my head in majorly!!
my wonderful mechanic has removed a dodgy and reinstalled a new [sh]gearbox into my explorer but we have no gears although the car seems like it wants to move.

There doesn't appear to be any oil pressure in the box - we did try a different harness and the car wont even start with it the second harness.

The box is the one sensor box for this car.

His thoughts are that the oil pump is not working - i have pulled down a spare box i have here and thinking i have the pump out [guessing it is at the front of the box just behind the bell housing.

If anyone has had these or similar problems could you please give me some ideas as i am running out of patience.
The car has been off the road since last September, I am a single mum with 2 small kids and driving borrowed cars which I dont like doing, and I cant afford to spend anymore on it - have replaced all suspension motor and now gearbox and it is still giving me grief!!

thankyou in advance for any suggestions!

sounds like the mechanic may have left out the intermediate shaft...they fall out easily and nothing will work without it.

J...had this happen on two used trannys in a row...the salvage yard was leaving the shaft out lol

ok so here is a dumb female question lol
where do i find this shaft? everything was tied in when i got the box and didnt see anything fll out when i undid it all

Oil pressure can be checked with a pressure gauge. The shaft slides into the front of the trans thru the middle of the pump, and must be installed before the torque converter is installed and it only goes in correctly one way.
