98 Explorer 4x4 4.0 transfer case

hey everyone, i have a 98 X. 4x4 XLT. with the 4.0.

i recently removed my front drive shaft because my transfer case went out. and im really wanting to start using 4x4 again, how much am i looking at to replace the transfer case? if anyone has had thiers done, any info would be great. im going to go get estimates this week, but would really like to know in advance, thanks again!

i just saw a transfer case runs anywhere from 899.99 up! am i looking at a 1500+ repair cost?

Salvage yard. Check www.car-part.com to find one at a yard local to you!

If you don't have the skills or tools to put one in yourself I am sure you could bring the salvage case into a shop and they will put it in for you.
