i had the same issue fixed it.

i was having the same problem. fixed it by cleaning the connector going into the coil pack and bending the pins coming out of coil pack pin b (signal ground) wasn't making good connection. when i looked at plug i could see that the amount of metal showing on that pin was pushed in and down a bit. pulling up on the plug while trying to start was how i found it.hope that helps.

Hello there, I know this is an old thread but I'm having similar issues with my truck, PCM voltage to Coil present at coil connector plug, no spark out of coil, I narrowed everything to this point, the truck cranks for a long time until suddenly starts, once it starts, it will fired up right away again until next time I leave it alone for a while, I'm at work right now but once i get home, I'll try this hopefully that's my problem as well, thanks a lot!! will come back with results.....

I have tested everything!! Haha, I have fuel pressure at the rail, ignition switch, transmission range switch, fuses, etc I mean every single thing and everything from fuel pump to sensors are new, I was having a p1309 code, I inspected my crankshaft position sensor and it was awfully dirty at the tip, cleaned very thoroughly and code dissappear, by the way mine is a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 AWD

I finally found the problem!!! There is a square type multiconductor cable connector that comes from the engine wiring harness with a bracket bolted to the wall beneath the windshield that goes to the breakout box and insde the cabin and the other side goes to the PCM, well that connector has a 10 mm bolt to joint it with the other part coming from the cabing and it was loose, almost 2 years ago I replaced the cylinder head gaskets and gave that wiring harness a little fix including new wiring sleeve and probably i missed bolting it al the way back in, it was loose, i checked the pins for the coils connectors and nothing and then I saw the connector loose from its bracket and wiggle it hard enough and tried my remote start and Bingo it started right up!! Now I have spark again!!!hope I can help somebody in the future with my diagnostic, thank s a lot Fastpakr!!! Greetings!!

Does your check engine light come on during the cranking process and then go out?

No check engine light comes on while cranking and stays on
