I just had my ex towed yesterday because while i was driving it just went out of gear or something and wouldn't move. For a couple of days when i started my car it would vibrate more than usual and when i pressed the gas hard it would vibrate also and when i was driving yesterday to change what i thought was an airfilter problem it vibrated a lot and than i had no movement. I could move it a little if i went to 3-4k rpms and if i put it into reverse it would drop rpms like its switching into gears but i would have to goto 3-4k rpms to move it inch by inch usually just letting off the brake it would move but it wont even do that. I just want to see possible problems here so i can compare to what the shop will come back with. Thanks in advance. Derek

just got word it was tranny which is $2400 used and $3100 new to replace looks like its scrapped.

Just a suggestion: if you're going to send it to be scrapped, post up on the For Sale forum. If it's in good condition other then the tranny, someone may want to buy it and rebuild the tranny or use it as a body for a V8 swap or for parts... the people here can make damn-near anything either run again or be useful in another project.

just called around and found it would be about $1400 to rebuild which is mechanically better than replacing the trans anyways correct? And a whole lot cheaper than buy a new car when I only go 2-3 miles to work everyday.

So I may be sticking around with the ex longer than I thought.

I was going to say $3100 for a rebuild is ALOT of $$$
$1400 is better BUT do your research
Getting your auto trans rebuilt is a BIG DEAL, you need to make sure the rebuilder knows what they are doing AND stands behind their work..
