98 Explorer Sport tranny question

I bought my 98 Sport with 24,000 miles on it, and i assume the tranny fluid has never been changed. I now have 75,000 on it and i still have never changed it. I have heard different things about trannys. i have heard that if you change it you are asking for problems, then i have heard of people changing it and the tranny lasting for 200,000 miles. I dont know what to do?? I know how to and have changed tranny fluid and filters on other old cars whose trannys were already going out, but i didnt wanna mess with a vehicle that im still paying on and has nothing wrong with it, but at the same time i wanna make sure it lasts. Please help!!

those horror stories usually happen after long periods of abuse and neglect @75000 you should be safe to change it and then change it every 30000 like reccomended
