Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmissions & transfer cases section. It sounds like a transfer case issue. Go back to the rebuilding shop, and don't touch anything on the vehicle since it might void the warranty.

I doubt they rebuilt the transfer case. If they had, it wouldn't be doing what it's doing. Search for 'shift rail bore' or 'omega machine' and you'll find plenty of details. You are not alone. :)

had the same problem around xmas and rebuilt the transfer case myself, because everyone mentioning the shift rail bore. that totally took care of my reverse problem, and the bore had way to much play.

but the deceleration still happens. my heavy duty mechanics teacher came for a ride with me to see what i was talking about, and his input was that it was something to do with a over running clutch(coast clutch) cause as soon as the gas is applied it goes away. as if pressure pushes the plates together causing it to be ok. i learned to drive with both feet (one on brake and one on gas) real well and now it never happens :)

i hope that ramble helped out a bit and pointed you in the right direction :)
