My parents have a 99 Expedition and we want to swap on some nice stock aluminum wheels from a 2002 Expedition. Right now it just has some chrome steel wheels that are stock. I looked up the bolt pattern and it is the same. My question is that the 99 lugs are a little bit smaller than the 2002 lugs. We noticed this because we were going to use the lug nuts that came with the aluminum wheels. Will it work safely? I think it would and my reasoning is that wheel manufactures make aftermarket wheels that they say will fit a 97-2002 expedition. I dont think they would make 2 versions for different sized lugs. The wheels do fit fine on the centering hole. Also I would think the clamping force by the lug nuts and lugs (150 ft/lbs) would let the wheel have enough friction between the rotor and wheel to hold it without moving. What do you think??
