99 explorer bogging out when acceleration

Hi I have a 99 explorer 4.0 sohc runs an drive good just sometime while I'm driving I hit the gas an I feel like it's bogging out them when u punch it. Seems to clear up an go wanted to see if anyone have had the same issue thank u

A few things to check...

Do you have the CEL on? Even if it is not on, check for pending codes...Also when was the last time the fuel filter replaced and the what is the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail? And when was the last tuneup done on your engine?

If the engine runs ok under normal acceleration but bogs when you try to accelerate hard it could be a fuel pressure/volume problem...If the bog goes away when you back off the throttle I would bet it is a fuel problem that will not get better without a bit of preventative maintenance...And hopefully not a recurring fuel pump problem...

And I would be really interested in the pending and/or the stored codes in the PCM...
