I passed through my hometown on a trip and got to see an old boss from my first job. The Salvage yard is always a treasure hunt. While there I noticed a 94 explorer with 2 flat tires, covered in dust. The story I was told, the spouse of my old boss, her son bought it and died 2 months later. They let another family member use it for college back in 2013, she managed to do some minor body damage to the top of the right rear door, roofline is slightly crushed in too, otherwise it looks perfectly clean. Ran when parked back in 2013. What would you think is a fair offer? Feeling them out, I'm guessing they are thinking about $1,000. I didn't look at the odometer but the interior is complete.

The lines for the left side look excellent. Do you have the time and space for another project?

94 first year of the 7 place odo
Some had it, some did not
I think $750-1000
Is fair it will probably start right up given some fresh fuel and a battery

I think with tires and some fresh fuel, it would probably drive again. I'd like to retire my 99 Jeep, it's like the owner, getting tired.

It’s got a good windshield that saves $300 right there
99 Jeep… back when they were still good! lol lol lol
94 explorer should have about 7 of its 9 lives left. The big question…. Is it an a4ld?
It’s 4wd it has auto hubs! I’m sure they are still good and now you can sell them on eBay! California tag…. It’s been babied with pricey fuel!

It's an automatic, I opened the drivers door to see the build date and get a better view of the interior. A manual transmission swap might take a day, I got good at them with the Aerostar.

Oh baby now you are talking
Can run a 93 pcm and delete the egr and forget the cam synchro
You can use a sohc self adjusting clutch and get amazing clutch grip and pedal
Plus the absolute best part of the whole rig
It’s a ttb! Skyjaxker 1.75”
Lift coils and shocks are like $200.. they ride so well
Hard to tell with the white covers but I don’t see rust bubbling out from under at the rockers… California truck
Take that el Jeep’o! A Jeep from the 90s should be worth at least $200? Hahaha

That jeep has U joint axle shafts and a radio I found with a lifetime subscription to xm. I'm sure if someone wanted either I could get $1,500 and give them the rest of the car for free.

Cali tip: if youre close enough; fill up in Nevada if possible then come back across... much cheaper gas! Or if you work for a company with a fuel yard...... you already know where Im going woth this 😂 theres a few secret places that have really cheap gas that Im pretty sure shouldnt be sold in Cali but ay least its cheap (about average elsewhere but cheap for Cali)

Atascadero is about as far away from Nevada as you can get. I buy as little fuel in this state as possible.

Today, I get a call from Lorin, the one who's yard this explorer is sitting in. He offered it to me if I'd take a load of recycling material, 20 bins from his yard to Phoenix. I'm seriously thinking about it cause my friend John, the one who broke his hip last October is walking again and will be going home soon. I promised him I'd be there for that day, and I need to clean his house up some, so it is wheelchair accessible. Since I'll be loaded west, I can load the explorer behind the scrap, offload it first then empty out.

The place has been there over 40 years. John met Lorin sometime back in the 70s. They both tell me stories about each other. There's a state park in Atascadero named after Lorin's relatives.
