A/C compressor in an 02 Explorer blew up!

i had new ac Compressor put in at a local shop. a few days later short bursts of green gas was comming out of the compressor,then boom it exploded.blew a nickle size hole in side of compressor. shop cant figure it out,truck still in shop 2 weeks later.

sorry no, the shop has the old compressor trying to figure out what happened.

If the system wasn't completely flushed debris from the old compressor could wreak havoc. Usually it just kills the compressor though. The compressor warranty is usually void if they find you didn't clean the system properly and you bring it back to a parts store.

What was wrong with the old compressor? Did the shop flush or replace any other parts when they put the new one in? Also, was the new one a brand new unit or a remanufactured one?
