My compressor is shot and I'm not planning on replacing it, since I never use my A/C anyways, so I've decided to just do an A/C delete. How do I discharge the system? Do I have to bring it to a dealer or something like that?

hmmmm well I need a complete AC system for my truck, so how much do you want for it? I will pay shipping!

If the system still has coolant in it, yes the proper thing to do is take it to a shop that can discharge the system for you.
The rest is easy, you will just need a belt for a non AC truck.
everything else is very straifght forward, just start unhooking wires and hoses..you will have to remov the grill and radiator

A system contaminated with "black death" in all liklihood contains contaminated components beyond flush cleaning. That is why so many total system failures result in complete replacement rebuilds. Beware.

How's $20 + shipping? The compressor will need a rebuild. I bought the non-A/C belt and now that's on there, so I'm just bypassing the compressor.

Just got back from a good drive. Definite improvement. It idles better, no more squeeking, and seems quicker too. So IMO it's been a good day, except when I pulled into my garage and ran over my cell phone
