a lesson learned in mud

I changed my filter today, and found yet another reason why mud is bad.

Its hard to tell in the pics, but the lower drain hole is pretty gumed up, and theres quite a bit of sediment in the lower lying parts of the airbox.
Those dark spots on the filter itself are completely cloged with mud and a few of the pleats were actually caked together, altho miraculously none of it apears to have made it through the filter

Mud/Dirt is always good to have in your engine. ha - you need a snorkel.

Where did you find mud? I keep looking for little muddy areas.
 






You gotta hit up South Jersey, though most of it is getting illegal now. :rolleyes: There's plenty of places out in PA, Rousch Creek, Paragon, etc. and there are monthly runs out there. I know there a couple of groups wanting to goto both places here in the next month or so.
 






Man! thats nothin! Wait until you pull mud-dobber's nests out from in there, just dont leave your truck stuck in the woods overnight.

That's not that bad. Try sand for a few hours, then pull the filter :)
 






yall need to come to SC/GA area then you can get your explorers lookin like mine hehe . under all that mud is a green explorer i even got the back hatch pretty muddy on this trip it was a night trip so i had to get out and wipe off the head lights so i could see how to get home lol

i cant wait to see how much mud it throws when i toss the 32x11.50x15 super swamper thornbirds on it hehe




also dunno if anybody has herd of them but this summer me and bunch of buddys are plannin on makein trips to these new 4x4 parks we have discovered not to alful far from us

your airbox look's familiar....i clean mine evrey week and in it there is sticks and leaves.... :p
