A Modest proposal for those 5R55E Owners - EPC Solenoid Replacement Proposal

I just want to say to Glacier that I for one appreciate your effort on bringing the option of a better Epc solenoid to light.
I have a 97 Ex & a 99 Ranger with the 5R55E trans and assume that the revised EPC will work in either year - right?
If so count me in. What kind of feedback is Allbert looking for if this goes ahead?

It should work in both. I've not yet been told what type of feedback exactly they would want.... as soon as we get close I am sure they'll be happy to share more.

My 01 Sport Trac has 85k and I heve been experiencing the shift flare. Mainly when cold if that means anything. But assuming my vehicle is within the scope of this campaign, I would be more than willing to be a Guinnia pig and have no reservations in sticking my hands inside my transmission.

I'll check again this week....try and help push it along.

I am in need of a EPC ASAP! How long until anything might happen?

I'm afraid we still can't make any commitments as to the certainty or timing of this study. If your vehicle needs a new EPC right away, it would probably be best to go with the OE hardware.

Saying that is not fun.

i'm interested in this also. just picked up a sporttrack and am looking at a oil change and filter . can do it all at the same time 55000 miles

Well.... I know that Allbert is doing all he can to convince the company to give us a try as their test fleet. You do need to understand that in today's world companies are especially risk averse.... but in all honesty (speaking as a lawyer here, which I have been for 30 years) I think the company runs less risk with a full disclosure test policy with well drafted releases (US) than they do by putting the product on the market with a smallersafer test fleet. I mean after all - WE are their market.... or guys like us.

But the call is not Allberts. (sigh)

I don't know how they do it but I have to draft and have our legal department review the field test agreements that are required for every engine that I have out in the field right now. They would probably require a signed agreement for all participants and some sort of information feedback plan.

Of course, one of my projects is a several thousand dollar 2000 hp 50L V16 - not a $150 transmission solenoid

i wish i had an auto i have some med problems but dont wish to do a swap but if this fix ever happens id reconsider im sure some one out their would swap me for my manual trans in the future .

an as a side note i like looking at glacier pics an others but wish all u photo posters would ad a discription of each i say wtf is dat every day lol

I generally use the gallery as a mid point (upload before posting in a thread) for posting.. never thought anyone ever looked there. I will try and post better descriptions there. Thanks.

so is it looking go or no. cause im noticing a flare, and it worries me!

I also would be interested in participating. Hopefully this will pan out.

I would be happy to get one. I need to replace my vb gasket, so i am going to get a new seperator plate with the gaskets built on to it. I could replace this while i am there. I may need it anyways.

Thanks
Jason

Well Allbert has indicated that he IS trying.... the good news is that it is not totally foreclosed, the bad is that in order to start letting us test them it might be limited to a few at first... He will be with company brass making his pitch soon. I am urging (knowing he will read this) that they be "in for a dollar" (you know the old adage, in for a dime in for a dollar?).

We have briefly discussed the circuit design in the 5R55E and he has sent me a couple interesting graphs I want to post... as soon as I know he is ok with it. On one of them I need a little more explanation from him to better explain ...but it sure looks damning to the original EPC design.
