I start it up and 4 seconds later it starts... from the console comes 5 beeps, a pause, 5 more beeps, another pause, 5 more beeps, another pause, 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps. 25 beeps total. You drive for 45 min and the beeping cycle starts again. 25 beeps. Annoying - yes I know.

Other symptoms - 4x4 does not disengage properly takes miles to get it to return to normal driving and still get a shudder, my fog lamps not working correctly - they will shut off without warning, also my washer pump has decided to act strange... working for the rear, but not the front... and it is not a blockage. These things could be related, but not sure.

Engine runs great (as long as you give it time to warm up in cold weather) and mileage is about right... maybe a little low, but what do I know.

So there you are all you wise ones, please help... the beeping is starting to affect my mental status.

The 5x5 beep pattern is an audible alert to tell you that the circuit voltage is showing the airbag light to be inoperative. Replace the bulb and the beeping should stop.

Washer pump is most likely a relay. There are 2 relays mounted along the inside of the passenger's side framerail in the engine compartment. They are located just behind the radiator support. If one of these goes bad, it gives you the symptom you are seeing where one works, but not the other.

thank you. I will try it tomorrow. Are changing those bulbs an easy task?

The bulb is easy to change on the back of the cluster BUT you must first remove the cluster to get to it.

Well, I did it, and it wasn't too bad. Beeping is gone, and now I have a 3-6 airbag code. I will check the forums for that.

Thanks!

Thanks JDraper - relay it was - easy fix and windshield is clean again! All is peaceful in my explorer again.
