I would like some input from some trans guys please... (sry for the long story)
400 miles ago I put $2300 on the credit card to fully rebuild the trans. The shop I took it to is a reputable place that has been in business for 20+ yrs.
Got the truck back and put the recommended 100 miles on it with no leaks and everything felt GREAT! So I took it to the hills to go shooting and a little bit of mudding. About 5 mins into mudding I lost reverse. After shifting into it you could feel it engage but any amount of throttle and the motor just revved. Took it back to the shop. They call me a wk later and tell me its done, however while it was sitting outside someone broke into it stealing my two subs, amp, and ripping the drivers side door panels apart to get to my speakers. But the real ***** was they punctured my gas tank and drained my gas.
-He shows me the reverse band and all of the friction material had flaked off.
-A month later, I finally have a new (used) tank that I installed w/new pump. Ready to go to the hills again.
-Again, 5 mins of fun in the snow and no reverse! it feels the exact same. I can feel it engage but motor just revs. So im guessing the material flaked off again!
So my question, WTF is going on here? Is he not adjusting it right or are the bands he's using just pieces of crap? the guy said he has had the ear of the band break off before but not the material flake off like that. I'm going to go talk to him tomorrow. He's gonna hate seeing me. It's got a 1 yr warranty.
