A very cold MAF could prevent it from going into overdrive.

K. So what would cause it not wanting to shift into 3rd... Ill be driving it tomorrow so will find out what happens.. It seems like if you are very easy on the pedal it will go or when its warm ill try being easy on it in the morning to see if it shifts right... I'm trying to post a video of the test I did to see if someone else can come up with different codes.. That thing was a pain let me tell ya lol... Makes me wanna crack open a cold one

And what does cold maf mean? what would be the cause of that? Just a bad maf?

K in Ohio this morning was very cold. Went out to start the truck to warm up some an had to give it gas to keep it running after a few mins it stayed running by itself.. Now I back up with no problem then throw it in OD... an bamm wouldn't go revved up an stayed at a stand still, them kicked in pretty hard... the shifts were still messed up, But like I stated before if you baby it an let it pretty much build up speed itself it seems to shift.. I toke the old maf out an got the battery disconnected an going to put another one in after about an hour to try an reset the computer.. Guess we will see what happens

Did you adjust the kickdown cable?

K BrooklynBay.. I did the kickdown cable... I misunderstood that for the throttle mod by needing someone to push the pedal down to see how much the butterfly opens to see if you would benifet from it or not.. But I put on the old maf sensor( after cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol) reset the computer an adjust the kickdown.. what do ya know it seems to shift even when getting on it now.. The shifts seem little late but hey I got em now.. Thanks

Thanks for the update! It's good that there was some progress after all of this. It will take some time for the computer to reset, so lets see how it is after this period.

Not a problem! Thanks for the help an for all the great info on this site...Yea lets hope it keeps shifting an a plus would be lil earlier shifts but i can live with the way it ran earlier... :smoke:

Well I must say I got in a hurry.. I just opened the box i got for the tranny filter an gasket an dumped it.. Well come to find out there was o rings that looks to of went on the filter.. So need to say there not on there... Will it hurt anything not having them on?? Also today an didn't want to shift when cold but when warmed up it would shift.. Could this be a no o ring factor, or the govenor

You definitely need both O rings. The delay when cold, but not when hot issue (1-2 shift) does sound like a sticking governor.

That stinks... what will happen if they don't get changed? Or even driving without em on? Have drove this truck like that since Sunday.. Really don't feel like dropping the pan again but looks like I'm gonna have to..

The bottom of the filter is the sump inlet. It could draw air instead of fluid into the transmission. You might notice it more while driving on a steep incline.

K Thanks man!! Im looking up the governor so might do that all this weekend then.. thanks for all your help...

Not sure what people would think about this, But went to the auto store to see what they had that I could put in my tranny to help it. I seen seafoam came out with stuff for auto tranny.. It's probaly half the size of a regular can of sefoam.. But anyways I had a whole can of the regular seafoam at home so I thought what the hell... *DO AT YOUR OWN RISK*..... Well I took an poured half a can of the regular seafoam in my dipstick to my tranny an within 5-8 miles it was shifting sooo much better.. Now even when cold in the morning it will shift sooo much better... shifts smoother, sooner(rather reving out so much)... It has been 3 days since Ive done this an hope I dont jinx myself by putting it on here.. But has fixed my hard/no 3 or 4 shifts

It loosened up the stuff that was clogging everything. Now it's very important to replace the fluid before you drive any further. You don't want to continue circulating that strong chemical with a bunch of loose particles.

Yea I know I should but Its to flippin cold now, so I'm just hoping an crossing my fingers that the new filter I just put in will catch an trap that stuff.. Wish I would of thought about this before I changed the fluid an filter

I don't know what kind of affect it will have keeping it in there for long term use. I suspect that it might cause the friction plate paper material to eventually fall apart, and then you will need a rebuild. I'm not trying to scare you, but if you've ever looked at how fragile those clutch pack plates are, then you will see what I mean. This also might have an affect on the seals, bands, servos, and possibly other parts. Think of what drain cleaner does when it sits in pipes. It's made to unclog, then get washed away, and not sit or be recirculated continuously.
