A4ld No Forward Gears Reverse Fine

I just bought a 93 Explorer. The trans goes into reverse with no issue. Has no forward gears in any range. Yesterday, accidently left it in drive for about five minutes and heard it clunk into gear. Tried it around my property and seem to work fine. Let the car set for about ten minutes and was slow to engage. Tried again this morning for about ten minutes nothing happen.
received this explorer in trade and don't have any history on it...
What do you all think !!!!

as always, pull the pan, look for any material.
change the fluid, see if it makes any changes.

Changed fluid and filter. Same symptoms. Noticed modulator has vacuum leak, sucking fluid into manifold.

#1 - how did the fluid look?
#2 - there is a vacuum hose on the A4LDs... might wanna check that hose and make sure it's connected good, and has no kinks/holes/etc

hate to be grim, nut your tranny is done! time for a new one. mine did the same thing, it was toast!
