About a month ago, I had my A4LD Rebuilt in my 91 Ex. Reason for the rebuild started because it would dump fluid after about 20 minutes of driving. After taking it to the tranny shop first time, he recommended my radiator be rodded out, did that and it worked fine for a few days. After a few days more it started doing the spewing again, so I took it back and he said he'd plop a new main seal on the tranny, then I told him it would occasionally slip, and when he took down the tranny he noticed nice wear on the tranny and highly recommended a rebuild. So after a week without it, he finishes the rebuild, it runs fine after I pick it up, till I got off the highway. I noticed a nice lag when accelerating, and then after I got home I noticed it was leaking fluid from the pan now. I took it back and he replaced the pan gasket, and said he didnt notice any power lag after driving (they do a nice 35 mile run to another city on the highway for testing). So, I learn to deal with the lag, and now I notice its leaking fluid again from the pan.

NOW, heres my question: What in the world would cause that power lag (its like its not kicking down to first off the line in OD, but does nicely in D) and why in the hell is this leak reappearing, I have a feeling if I take it back he'll just try another gasket, which will fail again. ALSO, while im at it, ive notice my oil leak which ive had for a while has gotten worse since the rebuild, and it comes from that main engine seal, perhaps when reinstalling the tranny he didnt do something right? I mean the guy SEEMED pretty straight forward and to the point, but I mean $1100 in repairs and it has some problems, I need to get this fixed.

BTW- I have a 6mo or 9,000mi warranty on it, and im sorry if this is confusing to read (I hate reading long posts too :D)

ok that lag is because its starting off in 2nd gear not 1st... there is a tech artical on this problem www.atcdg.com and go to the tech section... some one else posted this link and it is helping me out alot.....and where is this leak comming from? from the bell housing? if so the problem i had was the bushing in the bell housing was moving and would touch the front pump seal enought to creat a passage for the fluid to go out the seal and not down a return hole just behind the front seal........ check it out might bethe problem......

well the leak for the transmission, its at the pan, because there is no fluid residue anywhere else, and thats where it all seems to just stay at. As far as the oil leak its all around where the bellhousing meets the engine. As far as that whole just starting in 2nd thing, I'm becoming used to putting it in D instead of OD when im just driving in the city (where its really needed), so Im not too worried about that atm. (didnt see anything about the a4ld and that problem on that site btw)

go under tech section and its there scroll down to the a4ld and click on those 4 links one is your problem

turns out a bolt backed out on one of the bands in the transmission, which caused my shifting problem, and causing it not to kickdown to first when shifter is in OD when starting out. That bolt seems to have been the cause of the fluid coming out of the pan, guess it would backup into the pan when it couldn't shift, and it'd leak some out.
