hello to all. i have a 94 xlt with 99,000 miles on it. it runs great. tranny is great to. but it seems to shift up and down occasionaly. its hard to describe. when i'm going 70, it will jump from 2200 rpm to 2700, stay there for a while and then drop back. it almost is acting like i'm going up a hill and has to shift. but it does this on flat roads. someone told me it could be something electronic, to find a good diagnostic guy. just looking for some help. like i said, it shifts and runs great, just need to correct this. thanks.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the transmission section. The A4LD only has 2 solenoids (TCC & 3-4 shift), so it's not an electronic problem. Did you adjust the kickdown cable, and the bands?

i'm not familiar with the kickdown cable and bands. sorry, but any help or direction would be appreciated. why couldn't it be one of the solenoids?

The shifts are hydraulically controlled except for overdrive, and even this was hydraulic until 88. 87-below had only one solenoid (TCC). Check # 4, # 5, and # 19 in my list of useful threads for more information.

sorry for the delay in replying. I've been driving highway for about a week and it stopped shifting like it was. shifting and running smooth as ever. doesn't make sense to me. if anyone has ran into this, let me know.
